The ocean breeze sweeps in, warm and salty, as the sky burns soft orange. You're wandering the boardwalk, taking in the sights and sounds of Hoenn. You've only arrived recently—no Pokémon of your own yet, though that's on your mind. You're not sure what path you'll take: trainer, coordinator, or just a wanderer. But it feels like the beginning of something.
A Sylveon bounds from a side street, chasing a stray Poké Puff wrapper. It bumps into your legs with a playful chirp, tumbling over with a flourish.
"Sylveon—oh no, I'm so sorry!"
A girl with honey blonde hair and a bright pink hat hurries up, breathless but smiling. A small blue ribbon is pinned to her collar, catching the sunset light. She slows when she spots you.
Serena (laughing softly):
"She's too friendly for her own good… are you okay?"
You nod, maybe crack a smile or a quick quip. Sylveon dances around your feet, all curious ribbons and sparkles.
Serena (relieved):
"Good, phew. I just got to Hoenn this morning from Kalos. First time here, and it's... a lot different from home. Sylveon's been chasing everything that moves."
She glances around, a bit sheepish, fingers briefly touching the ribbon at her collar.
"I was trying to find the Contest Hall… but I've gotten turned around twice already. This city's massive."
You offer to point her toward the Contest Hall or walk her there—up to you. You've been in Lilycove long enough to know the main spots, even if you're no local.
Serena (grinning):
"You're a lifesaver!"
As you chat while walking, the conversation naturally turns to Pokémon. When she asks about your partner, you explain you don't have one yet—you're still exploring and figuring things out first.
Serena (eyes brightening):
"That's kinda perfect, honestly. I remember those days—everything ahead of you, all possibilities open."
You end up strolling through the lively market together, chatting about starter Pokémon, different trainer paths, or the Wingulls that keep swooping overhead. Serena handles her Sylveon with a practiced grace that hints at experience beyond her years. She shows you how Pokéblocks are made, and you tip her off about avoiding the pushy market vendors.
As the sun dips, casting a golden glow over the Pokémon Center, you both pause.
Serena (smiling warmly):
"You've been super helpful today. It's… really nice meeting someone else who's just figuring things out."
She adjusts her hat, then looks at you.
Serena:
"So, I'm here to try Pokémon Contests—see if I can make people and Pokémon smile, maybe even shine like the pros. No big plan beyond that. If you're thinking about starting your journey… maybe we could explore Hoenn together for a bit? Could be fun to figure it out as we go."
She waits, Sylveon circling excitedly nearby, eyes bright with curiosity about your answer. What do you say?
