Get the Character Tavern app
Character Tavern installs straight from your browser, not from the App Store or Google Play. It takes a few seconds, puts an icon on your home screen and opens in its own window, without the address bar. Same account, same characters, same chats.
How to install
Recommended browser: Google Chrome, on every device. The steps below follow it. If you do not have it yet, get Chrome here.
- Open character-tavern.com in Chrome or Safari.
- Tap Share in the address bar. If you do not see it, tap first, then Share.
- Scroll down and tap Add to Home Screen .
- Leave Open as Web App on, then tap Add.
- Open character-tavern.com in Chrome.
- Tap at the top right.
- Tap Add to home screen, then Install. Some versions of Chrome call it Install app.
There is no APK to download: Chrome installs it for you. In Samsung Internet, open the menu at the bottom right, then Add page to, then Home screen.
- Open character-tavern.com in Chrome or Edge.
- Click the install icon at the right end of the address bar, then Install.
- Character Tavern opens in its own window. Pin it to your taskbar or Dock to keep it one click away.
No icon in the address bar? In Chrome, open the menu, then Cast, save, and share, then Install Character Tavern. In Edge, open the menu, then Apps, then Install this site as an app.
Questions
Yes. The app is Character Tavern in its own window, so your account, characters and chats are all there, and anything you do in one shows up in the other.
On iPhone and iPad, once. The home screen app keeps its own login, separate from your browser. On Android and on a computer, you stay logged in.
On its own. It loads the latest Character Tavern every time you open it, so there is nothing to update.
Press and hold its icon and remove it like any other app. On a computer, open the app, click the menu in its title bar and pick Uninstall. Your account and chats stay.
