Moderators Can't Access Chats
Your roleplay conversations are yours alone. Mods never see them.
Only Accessed When Absolutely Necessary
The founder (Sal) may access chat data only for system maintenance, security, or automated processes. Never for curiosity.

Keep your login safe — don't share your password or let others use your account.
Think before you post — only share info you're comfortable with in public cards and comments.
Report issues ASAP — if you think your account was compromised, let us know immediately.

You choose visibility: public, unlisted, or private. Staff may access private cards only for system protection or maintenance.
Chats
Strictly private. Moderators can't access them. Only the founder can, and only for legitimate technical reasons.
Comments
Public and visible to everyone. Think before you post!

We use Umami — a self-hosted, privacy-focused analytics tool. No cookies, no personal tracking, just basic stats to improve CT.
Sensitive Categories
We don't actively collect health, religion, orientation, etc. If you share this in your content, that's your choice.

Character Tavern is for adults only. We don't knowingly collect data from anyone under 18. If we find out, we delete it.

Storage & Security
How we protect your data
We self-host as much as possible. Data is processed in the European Union.
No system is 100% secure. Keep your password safe and report suspicious activity.
Delete your account: Data is removed from active systems immediately. Backups are cleared within a short period.
Your content: Deleted when you delete your account. Public comments may remain to preserve conversations.
Inactive accounts: May be removed after extended inactivity to keep things tidy.
