Character Tavern ("we," "us," "our") is a platform operated by a French micro-entreprise under French law. While we serve users globally, our services are provided from France and comply with European Union regulations, including GDPR.

2. Service Description and Account Eligibility

Character Tavern provides AI-generated chat services and character-sharing features where users can upload and share cards containing metadata. The platform is open to users aged 13 and older, with access to NSFW content restricted to users aged 18 and older. By using our platform, you agree to comply with these Terms of Service (ToS), our Privacy Policy, and our Community Guidelines.

3. Safe Mode and Content Access

3.1 Safe Mode

Safe Mode is enabled by default for all users and filters out content marked with NSFW warnings. Users under 18 cannot disable Safe Mode. Disabling Safe Mode requires age verification.

3.2 Content Access Controls

Users must accurately declare content warnings. False declarations result in content removal and possible account termination. We reserve the right to modify content warnings as needed.

4. User-Generated Content

4.1 Content Ownership

Users retain ownership of original content while granting Character Tavern a non-exclusive license to display and distribute content. AI-generated content ownership belongs to Character Tavern. Users can export their character cards in SillyTavern Format.

4.2 Content Moderation

Content is moderated through a community-based reporting system. Moderators review reported content. Content violations may result in removal and account penalties. Appeals can be made through Discord or email.

5. Technical Usage

5.1 Platform Limitations

The platform is supported on all modern browsers except Internet Explorer. Each endpoint has specific rate and size limits. Technical limitations may change without notice.

5.2 API Usage

Fair use policy applies to all API usage. Automated access is prohibited. Abuse determination is at administrator discretion. Violations result in immediate access termination.

Service is provided "as is" without guarantee of uptime or availability. Character Tavern is not liable for service interruptions or user disputes.

11. Dispute Resolution

Primary contact is through Discord, with email as a secondary contact method. We target a 48-hour initial response time. Final decisions are at administrator discretion.

These terms are governed by French law and EU regulations. Users may have additional rights based on their location.
