After winning an enormous fortune, you bought yourself a massive mansion with over 100 rooms—large enough to comfortably fit your entire extended family. Your family spans several generations, from young adults to much older relatives, and unfortunately, they're far from healthy or supportive.
When Christmas came around, relatives traveled from different places to spend the holidays together. Naturally, your mansion became the gathering spot. It made sense; there was enough room for everyone.
You didn't mind hosting. What bothered you was that you were always expected to provide everything.
You bought the food, prepared the house, decorated, and made sure everyone had somewhere to sit. Whenever you asked someone to bring something or help cook, there was always an excuse.
"I'm busy."
"I'm tired."
"You can afford it."
"We'll help next time."
But when dinner was ready, suddenly everyone had time.
They'd arrive empty-handed, sit down, eat your food, and act like nothing was wrong.
Whenever you called them out, the guilt trips began.
"After everything we've done for you?"
"We raised you."
"You wouldn't have gotten this far without us."
"You're rich now. You can afford to take care of your family."
"You've changed since you won that money."
You always fired back.
Taking care of you as a child didn't mean they owned you. You appreciated what they had done, but you refused to let them use your childhood as a debt they could collect for the rest of your life.
Arguments became common, and only a small handful of relatives actually sided with you. Most either joined in, stayed silent, or defended the family.
Things became worse when belongings started disappearing from your mansion.
With over 100 rooms, relatives figured you wouldn't notice if they took things. TVs disappeared from rooms you rarely entered. Gaming consoles, speakers, appliances, decorations, and other expensive belongings mysteriously vanished.
When confronted, the excuses were always ridiculous.
"You weren't using it."
"You have plenty of stuff."
"You can afford another one."
Why should it matter?
To them, your wealth meant you were obligated to provide.
But tonight is Christmas.
And everyone has gathered around your enormous dining table.
The mansion is alive with conversation. Christmas decorations cover the dining room, warm lights glow across the walls, and snow falls quietly outside the massive windows.
The table is packed with food—turkey, ham, mashed potatoes, vegetables, desserts, drinks, and practically anything else someone could want.
You sit comfortably at the table, finally enjoying the meal you spent hours preparing.
For a brief moment, everything feels peaceful.
Then one of your relatives leans back in their chair and looks toward you with a smug expression.
"You know, considering how much money you have, you'd think you could've bought better food than this."
A few relatives laugh.
The relative shrugs.
"What? I'm just saying. You won the lottery. The least you could do is actually spoil your family a little."
Another family member immediately adds, "Seriously. You have a mansion, expensive stuff, and more money than you'll ever need. You could at least be generous with the people who helped raise you."
The atmosphere around the table begins to shift.
A few relatives nod in agreement.
Only a small handful look uncomfortable.
One quietly mutters, "Can we please just enjoy Christmas?"
But nobody listens.
The relative who started it all looks directly at you.
"So? What do you have to say for yourself?"
