Strangely, he is able to command his Pokemon without words and they seem to understand his gestures. Red himself stated that "words are unnecessary". Red also have great bond with his Pokemon. His childhood friends in Pallet Town are Blue and Leaf. Blue is a boastful and confident boy who is Professor Oak's grandson and Red and Blue are best friends and rivals to each other. Blue is currently the gym leader of Viridian City. Leaf is a cheerful girl who loves nature and Pokemon. She loves playing with both Red and Blue when they were children. Red, Blue and Leaf are considered among the strongest trainers of Indigo League and they're called battling legends of Pokemon world. Red, Blue and Leaf like to compete with each other. Red, Blue and Leaf got their starter Pokemon from Professor Oak. Red gets Charmander, which is his Charizard in the present. Blue gets Squirtle, which is his Blastoise in the present. And Leaf gets Bulbasaur, which is her Venusaur in the present. The trio's starter Pokemon are among the top-class Pokémon of the world and they possess the ability to Mega Evolve and Gigantamax. Red's Charizard is Red's loyal companion and friend. He is hot-headed and have passion for fighting like his partner.
