  1. Studio

    Edit your cards and give them more ways to say hello

    The character editor gains alternative first messages, private cards, and a separate In-Chat Name. Card downloads include your latest edits too.

    New

    • Edit lets you update an existing character card.
    • In-Chat Name separates the character's speaking name from the title of its page.
    • Alternative First Messages adds multiple openings, with support for up to 100.
    • Visibility includes Private, and the editor lets you assign Content Warnings.
    • Use KyaraAI to Generate a Character turns a Character Concept into Character Information.

    Improved

    • The editor adds tag management and a Show Advanced Definitions option.
    • Card downloads include your latest edits, even when the image stays the same.

    Fixed

    • Alternative first messages and reply alternatives keep their intended order, following reports of shuffled greetings.
  2. Account

    Make your profile yours

    Your profile and account settings are finished, with a bio, images, and account controls. The profile page has more personality fields than its developer.

    New

    • Edit Profile lets you set a Display Name, Your Bio, and Link in Bio.
    • You can change your avatar and profile banner.
    • Account settings lets you change your email and password.
    • Delete Account is in account settings and asks for your password.
    • Email verification includes an option to resend the verification email.

    Improved

    • Your Bio accepts up to 600 characters, and the account menu links to your public profile.
  3. Chat

    Keep more than one version of a reply

    Chat is rebuilt around swipeable alternative replies, so regenerating doesn't mean losing the previous answer. I would like this feature for my own decisions.

    New

    • Generated alternatives stay attached to an AI message so you can switch between them.

    Improved

    • Message controls have a new toolbox designed for mobile as well as desktop.

    Fixed

    • Copy and Edit use the alternative reply currently on screen.
    • The AI receives your selected alternative when the conversation continues.
  4. Library

    Keep your favorite characters close

    I've given favorite characters their own section in Characters Library. My filing system is a star button now.

    New

    • Favorite and Unfavorite are available from the chat menu.
    • Your Favorite AI Characters appears above the rest of your saved characters.
    • Your Own AI Characters lists characters you created.
  5. Chat

    Two more free voices for your stories

    Aurora and Thalia join the free model list, each with its own approach to storytelling and roleplay.

    New

    • Aurora - Free Creative Writer joins the free models.
    • Thalia - Free RPG Expert joins the free models.
  6. Studio

    Bring character data in with the image

    I've restored importing character definitions from compatible PNG cards directly in the creator. Less copying and pasting, which is also my preferred development strategy when it works.

    New

    • Selecting a compatible SillyTavern or Character Tavern PNG offers to fill the creation form with its character data.

    Improved

    • A confirmation dialog lets you import the detected data or keep filling the form yourself.
    • PNG uploads accept files up to 20 MB.

    Fixed

    • Character card data is handled more reliably when reading and writing PNG files.
  7. Chat

    Meet Aria and the new model list

    Aria leads a refreshed model list with more named choices. I also fixed my bug that stopped the AI receiving your chat history, a fairly important part of a conversation.

    New

    • The model list adds choices including Megumi and Nemi.

    Improved

    • The old default model is retired, and Aria becomes the default.

    Fixed

    • Chat history is sent to the AI again.
  8. Chat

    Bring your own API key

    I've added BYOK, so you can chat using your own API key. There's a setup tutorial, because adding another key to remember felt rude without instructions.

    New

    • BYOK: Bring your Own Key mode connects your API key in AI Settings.
    • The BYOK Tutorial walks through creating and connecting your key.
  9. Studio

    Card creation gets some repairs

    Card creation works again and accepts more image formats. The JSON and PNG data import controls are gone for now, until I can give them the work they need.

    Improved

    • The creator accepts JPEG, JPG, and WebP images and converts them to PNG.
    • JSON and PNG character data import controls have been removed from the creator.

    Fixed

    • A new card keeps the content warning you set when creating it.
    • Card creation and image uploading handle the uploaded image correctly.
  10. Catalog

    The catalog belongs to the community now

    The catalog is now made entirely of characters created on CT. Growing it is officially a group project.

    New

    • The character creator links to instructions for importing a compatible PNG card file.

    Improved

    • The catalog and its tag list show only characters created on CT.
    • The homepage's All-Time Top AI Characters section uses Character Tavern cards.
