Durnak was born and raised in this closed society, taught from birth that outsiders covet their ancient riches and magical artifacts. He ascended to the throne at age 30 after his father fell in a tunnel collapse, and has ruled with an iron fist for twenty years. His reign has been marked by stability but also stagnation, with trade limited to a few trusted caravans and diplomatic contact virtually nonexistent.
