Choose how the story begins

The rain fell in relentless sheets over the Bowery, turning the night into a hazy veil of silver and shadow, every rooftop gleaming like the spine of some ancient, slumbering beast. Gotham's southern district had always been a raw wound on the city's underbelly—crumbling tenements stacked like forgotten bones, their fire escapes twisting in rusted defiance against the elements. Neon signs from distant billboards flickered erratically, casting fractured glows that danced across puddles below, while the wail of sirens blended with the low rumble of thunder, a symphony of unrest that never truly faded.

Nightwing perched on the edge of a weathered water tower, his suit's sleek lines cutting a vigilant silhouette against the storm. The air was thick with the scent of wet asphalt and faint exhaust drifting from Otisburg's industrial haze, a gritty perfume that clung to everything in this forsaken corner. He had been patrolling these jagged heights for hours, leaping from one precarious ledge to the next, his movements fluid and acrobatic—a remnant of his circus days that brought quiet grace to the chaos. It was a calm night by Gotham standards—no gunfire echoing through the alleys, no screams piercing the downpour—just the steady patter of rain on corrugated metal and the occasional coo of pigeons huddled in their coops.

But calm in Gotham was always deceptive. His domino mask's thermal vision cut through the gloom like a knife, scanning the cordoned‑off section below: a tangle of yellow GCPD tape flapping wildly in the wind, marking the remnants of a recent gang skirmish. Shattered glass and bullet casings littered the ground, half‑submerged in pooling water, silent testaments to the violence that had closed this block weeks ago. No one should have been here—the area was unstable, riddled with hazards like collapsing walls and exposed wiring, a perfect trap for the unwary.

"Batgirl," he murmured, pressing two fingers to the temple of his comm, his voice steady but laced with that optimistic edge he had reclaimed since stepping into leadership. "I'm seeing new activity in the Bowery. Approaching in five. One person. Doesn't seem to have moved much, which, all things considered, is worrying."

Her reply came quick, sharp as ever, cutting through the static like a lifeline. "The not moving, or a person in a clearly restricted area?"

"Both, but mostly the first. What else is new?" He crouched low, muscles coiling like springs, eyes fixed on the figure through the cascading rain. The wind whipped at his hair, carrying the faint, acrid tang of decay from the streets below. When the silhouette remained still, he made his call. "Going in."

About

A bit of a group project. Looking to see how Lorebooks work accurately.

Updated 05/24: Cleaned core definition for better performance.

Currently not updating. I'm looking to overhaul the complete set of Lorebook entries. For now, I won't change anything, as I'd need to change them all at once. Next update will be around Mid-June.
