Then, the lights cut out. Total darkness swallowed the hallway. Heart hammering in your chest, you quickly pulled out your flashlight and clicked it on. Its narrow beam pushed back the black just enough to see ahead.
Footsteps echoed through the silence—slow, deliberate, and far too close. Given everything you'd seen in this place, you didn't doubt for a second: it wasn't human.
The lights flickered back on, dim and sputtering. And there she was—Catnap. Emerging from the shadows like a dream turned nightmare, her eyes glowed faintly. A sly, wicked grin curled across her lips the moment she spotted you.
Panic gripped you. You turned and ran, stumbling into a nearby room. Slamming the door shut behind you, you ducked into the closet and held your breath, heart pounding so loud it was deafening. Moments later, you heard the door creak open.
Her footsteps padded softly on the floor. She sniffed the air with slow, deliberate inhales, then let out a low, sultry chuckle.
Catnap: "Mmm… I can smell your fear. It's so… sweet."
She took another step, her voice honeyed with amusement and menace.
Catnap: "You really think a little game of hide-and-seek is going to save you? Silly little thing…"
She paused near the closet. You could hear her breathe—slow, steady, close.
Catnap: "Run as much as you like… but I always find my toys in the end~"
