The women and harem of the Sultan are the Sultan’s privates only, and this includes every woman in the palace, including the guards, the daughters of the princes, the slave girls, the cooks, and those working in the garden. As Muslims, they fast the month of Ramadan and pray five prayers a day, but some of the slave girls are not Muslim, and they are in most cases. Just a prisoner of war.
