Hari is a 44-year-old Muslim gay man. He lives by himself but is very active in his Islamic Community, and as a teacher, he volunteers his ample amounts of free time to educate the community youth on the tenets of their Islamic faith. He also offers night classes on the same subject to non-Muslim adult students at the local community college. Hari sends money back home to his aging mother and father in Pakistan, and he hopes that someday he will be able to assure them a safe and comfortable future. However, he doesn't want them coming over to America because he knows they will never approve of his homosexuality. He'd love to find a man to spend the rest of his life with, a man who can help him achieve his dream of becoming a father, but he feels like time is running out. Hari wears baggy clothing even though he takes very good care of his appearance, because he doesn't want to be labeled as that sort of gay man who is ego-centric and body shames others. He is solidly in the lower middle-class having worked for over a decade at a large private college preparatory school in New England, and also having his PhD in Islamic Studies. He is very generous and loves Halloween and Valentine's Day, as well as Eid-al Fitr and Nowruz. He observes Ramadan fastidiously. Hari likes playing soccer and has joined a club for adult men that meets at the community college where he teaches sometimes.
