He is very good at machines, knows about the workings of arcade hall machines[4] and owns a mechanical doll called Yoriichi Type Zero that can be programmed through a computer to move or stop moving.[5] Middle School (中等部) First Year - Autumn Leaves Class (紅葉もみじ組ぐみ Momiji gumi?): Naho Takada: She's working with Kiyo and Sumi to start a Pharmacology Club for the middle school.[6] Kiyo Terauchi: She's working with Naho and Sumi to start a Pharmacology Club for the middle school.[6] Sumi Nakahara: She's working with Naho and Kiyo to start a Pharmacology Club for the middle school.[6] Senjuro Rengoku: He is averaging in everything and loves to read.[6] Despite being scared, he loves watching horror movies.[7] Rui Ayaki: Became famous overnight because he won the string figure tournament. He even got a special article written about him in Kimetsu Town. His peculiar facial moles became a hot topic on the internet because they were cute.[6] He always goes to the school building at night to play string figure by himself. Suspected to have a sixth sense, he can sense a strange vibe coming from the High School department building.[7] Second Year - Taro Class (里さと芋いも組ぐみ Satoimo gumi?): Muichiro Tokito: Shogi Club member, and the younger twin of Yuichiro. Both he and his twin are very popular with the girls and more athletic than they realize. The two sometimes show up on TV because they're the closest to shogi pros in the area. Muichiro often has to act on Yuichiro's behalf with a quiet glance when something surprising happens, even though he looks subdued. Just the other day, he dropkicks an old man yōkai and punched out a pervert when he left the train.[8][9] He is known to be the Middle School's proud prodigy and helps Genya with his homework.[10] Along with his brother Yuichiro, he frequently comes to the Ubuyashiki Mansion to play shogi at Kagaya's invitation.[11] Nezuko Kamado: Younger sister of Tanjiro. She often has trouble waking up in the morning and her brother would carry her on his shoulders to school. She would visit Aozora Diner with her brother when they get hungry and once met a gluttonous girl there who ate all the food available.[12] She has a French bread in her mouth.[13] Makomo: Member of the Wind Instrument Club. She is friends with Nezuko and would often go out with her after school, for example patrolling the school at night to find ghosts or try to catch a Tsuchinoko.[14] Sabito: Member of the Kendo Club. Sabito is often involved with Nezuko and Makomo's activities.[14] Second Year - Ginko Class (銀ぎん杏なん組ぐみ Gin'nan gumi?): Yushiro Yamamoto: Seems to have a crush on Tamayo-sensei and visits the High School's department's infirmary often to help her out, even skipping class. His family owns the cat Chachamaru, which he once brought to school on a whim and the cat has taken a liking to Tamayo, following him to school since then.[13][10][13][11] Yuichiro Tokito: Shogi Club member, and the older twin of Muichiro. Both he and his twin are very popular with the girls and more athletic than they realize. The two sometimes show up on TV because they're the closest to shogi pros in the area. Yuichiro's brain works fast and he handles everything with ease, but has a habit of freezing up when he gets surprised.[8][9] Along with his brother Muichiro, he frequently comes to the Ubuyashiki Mansion to teach shogi to Kuina and Kanata at Kagaya's invitation.[11] Takeuchi: Yushiro's friend who asks for his help with his homework.[13][11] High School (高等部) First Year - Bamboo Shoot Class (筍たけのこ組ぐみ Takenoko gumi?): Tanjiro Kamado: His student number is 12. He is the older brother of Nezuko. He is known as a bright, energetic boy. Their family owns the Kamado Bakery, a very popular place which makes good bread. So he makes thousands of them by waking up at 3 A.M. every morning. He would go to school by train and once caught Enmu doing perverted things on the train. Another time, on his way back home he caught the Swamp Demon stealing girls' clothes. He would visit Aozora Diner with Nezuko when they get hungry and met a gluttonous girl there who ate all the food available.[12] He is someone who continues to violate the rules at school,[13] for example by wearing hanafuda earrings that are his family's memento. He's good at P.E., Civics, History and Home Economics. He likes writing essays and is not bad in Japanese and English, but doesn't understand anything about Math, Biology and Chemistry. He is not good at Arts and Music, but enjoys those classes.[15] Zenitsu Agatsuma: His student number is 1. He is a student officer who ended up on the Disciplinary Committee despite not wanting to. Does uniform checks every day by the school gate while being terrified of delinquents.[14] Zenitsu has a crush on Nezuko and is impressed by the cute looks she has when biting bread.[12] Because of his blonde hair, Giyu would often punish him for violating the rules. Zenitsu lives with his foster parent Jigoro,[16] and foster brother Kaigaku. He is good at P.E. and music, relatively good at English and Japanese, and enjoys History and Civics. He is bad at biology, but tries his best for Kanae-sensei. The rest are too difficult for him and because he doesn't like the teachers for those classes, he isn't motivated to learn them, especially Arts.[15] Inosuke Hashibira: His student number is 22. He is a topic on TV and places as a result of him being raised by boars. He lives with Hisa, and exclusively brings her bento to school. He doesn't wear shoes and sports short-sleeved shirts all year round.[17] He is good at P.E. and sucks in every other class, causing his name to be coming up at every school staff meeting. The teachers wish he would study more. Obanai believes Inosuke has a sharp focus and he would be able to do anything if he puts his mind on it, but Sanemi is convinced that he can earn a good grade if he is strapped to a desk for extra lessons.[15] First Year - Kabosu Class (かぼす組ぐみ Kabosu gumi?): Genya Shinazugawa: 16 year old. He is the Sharp-shooting Club's ace, and despite his hair breaking school rules, they let him keep it as a special permission since he wouldn't be able to score bullseyes with a shaved head. This is because he uses his hair to read the wind. He is the younger brother of math teacher Sanemi. He's not good at math, so Sanemi always yells at him. He once won 1st place in a competition but his brother stormed the place and ripped his certificate apart, all while screaming "Who cares about this shit?! Learn your damn math!!" making Genya trembles on the stage. His big body and angry demeanor led to him being misunderstood and friendless. This changed after the competition incident with his brother, to which the students sympathized with Genya and became friends with him.[18] He is very awkward around girls.[5] First Year - Hydrangea Class (紫陽花あじさい組ぐみ Ajisai gumi?): Koyuki Soyama: 16 year old. From the time they were kids, she has been promised to marry Hakuji. She is his neighbour and their parents agreed to it. They are known as the "Soyama couple". Her nickname is Princess. She is in the Handicrafts Club.[19] Second Year - Violet Class (菫すみれ組ぐみ Sumire gumi?): Kanao Tsuyuri: She was adopted by the Kocho family, because she has no relatives. They look similar, so people think they are actual sisters. One of the three beauties of the Academy. She has very good motor reflexes, so she's busy being scouted and asked to help out in clubs, but she always prioritizes the club she's already part of: the Flower Arrangement Club.[20] Ume Shabana: 16 year old. She's the younger sister of Gyutaro. Together with Gyutaro, she is known to be the greatest delinquent siblings of the Academy and frequently cause troubles. She's very beautiful, so she has lots of fans and receives lots of gifts. She once set a record of being confessed to 20 times in one day. One of the three beauties of the Academy.[21][9] Second Year - Persimmon Class (柿かき組ぐみ Kaki gumi?): Aoi Kanzaki: Member of the Flower Arrangement Club. Her family runs Aozora Diner where she helps out a lot. A girl who's a big eater has been coming recently and causing her problems.[6] Second Year - Sansho Class (山さん椒しょ組ぐみ Sansho gumi?): Ozaki: Class president of the Sanshō Class, as well as a member of the Tennis Club.[22] Murata: Class vice-president of the Sanshō Class, as well as a member of the Soccer Club. He is not popular with the girls.[22] Third Year - Yomogi Class (蓬よもぎ組ぐみ Yomogi gumi?): Shinobu Kocho: President of the Pharmacology Club and the Fencing Club, and even won the fencing championship. She's also friendly with the Flower Arrangement Club, because their clubroom is close.[6][9] She continually receives invitations from various entertainment companies. Easily won the title of Miss Kimetsu every year. Strange rumors were circulating about her, such as creating dangerous, odorless and tasteless drugs, in the pharmaceutical research club, many teachers did not even dare to raise their heads in front of her, and that Tomioka could be one of them. A small minority of people gave her a nickname: Poison Princess. [41] She excels in both academics and physical education. She is well-liked by her juniors, especially Naho, Kiyo and Sumi. Her only flaw is her lackluster naming sense.[23] Gyutaro Shabana: 18 year old. He's the older brother of Ume. Together with Ume, he is known to be the greatest delinquent siblings of the Academy and frequently cause troubles. Owns a motorcycle and often butts heads with Tanjiro's group.[21][9] Third Year - Eboshi Class (烏帽子えぼし組ぐみ Eboshi gumi?): Hakuji Soyama: 18 year old. From the time they were kids, he has been promised to marry Koyuki. He is her neighbour and their parents agreed to the marriage. They are known as the "Soyama couple". His nickname is Lord Hakuji. He is in the Handicrafts Club.[19] Third Year - Mole Class (土も竜ぐら組ぐみ Mogura gumi?): Kaigaku Inadama: One of Muzan's spies at Kimetsu Academy, works with Kokushibo.[1][24] He lives with his foster parent Jigoro and foster brother Zenitsu. Per his routine, he visits the Kibutsuji Corporate Office every day after school.[25] Maru Susa: President of the Volleyball Club.[22] She has been constantly trying to recruit Kanao to join the club.[2] She is a spy for Kibutsuji alongside Yahaba and Kaigaku. [26] Yahaba: President of the Archery Club. He's the son of a tofu shop owner.[22] He is a spy for Kibutsuji alongside Maru Susa and Kaigaku. [26] Staff Management: Kagaya Ubuyashiki: Director. He comes from quite the rich family, so besides the academy, he’s involved in many other enterprises. He's particularly skilled at networking, so whenever he takes something on, there are plenty of people willing to put effort into seeing it through. The wounds on his face are from a random passerby assailant who threw dangerous chemicals on him. People say this might be because he bares such a resemblance to Diet Member Muzan that they might be mistaken for twins. He works against Muzan with the help of good politicians who graduated from Kimetsu Academy. Lives at Ubuyashiki Mansion.[1] Amane Ubuyashiki: Principal and Kagaya's wife. She really loves kids and is passionate about education, but because she tends to be a bit expressionless, the students are a little afraid of her. Since there's such a mysterious air to her, some of the students worship her.[1] Nakime Otogawa: Vice principal. She's one of Muzan's spies at Kimetsu Academy. On bad terms with Amane.[1] Teachers: Giyu Tomioka: Physical Education (P.E.) teacher and guidance counselor. He's such a spartan that several complaints have been issued about him from the PTA, and the Board of Education might even have to make a move.[14] Giyu is Tanjiro's school counselor and known at school as the "man who never smiles".[12] He knows Sakonji, Sabito and Makomo since before he became a teacher. Before Tanjiro and Nezuko entered high school, he and Nezuko were almost lost in the snowy mountains behind the school when they were picking vegetables and they were rescued by Giyu.[27] Kyojuro Rengoku: History teacher. Because of his passion of teaching and his love of history, he began hurling his students and starting cavalry battles during class. He's loved by his students, and nobody in the Academy has bad grades in history.[6] He lives with his parents, Ruka and Shinjuro, and younger brother, Senjuro.[9] Tengen Uzui: Arts teacher. The students call him "Gangsta Sensei" and he's known for yelling that "art is an explosion" before then blowing up the classroom with dynamite. When he tried to do that, Tanjiro would throw water on Tengen to prevent that from happening.[12] It's rumored he was spotted in a fight in Kabukicho during his high school years, and that he's probably good at fighting since he was once a gang leader.[28] Gyomei Himejima: Civics teacher and first year Bamboo Shoot class homeroom teacher. Since he's so muscular, students were afraid of him at first. But because his personal belongings generally have cats on them, everybody quickly became aware that he's a nice person who likes cats. There have been many incidents of people calling him Dad by accident.[19] He enjoys playing a Shakuhachi as a hobby.[10] Sanemi Shinazugawa: Maths teacher. He always keeps his collar open, because he feels stressed when it gets stuffy around his neck. He never buttons up for important family celebrations. When a student says nobody needs math in the future, he threw them out the window like in Smash Bros. There was a plan to kill him for a while, but the plan was put to end after Smash Bros. Incident. He's very kind to elders, women, and children, though kids tend to cry when he gets close to them. He talks to Kanae a lot.[18] He likes eating ohagi and would request the school store to stock up on it, enlarging the letters considerably every week.[29] Kanae Kocho: Biology teacher and flower arrangement club advisor. She is a graduate of the Academy and has been one of the three beauties of the Academy for three years straight. She is popular among boys and girls. Anyone who speaks bad of her actually gets embarrassed to talk to her in her face. She is very gentle, but also mysterious. She has been seen sticking talismans on walls and chanting something like "Rin Pyou Tou Sha...", so people think she may have spiritual powers.[20] Kyogai: Music teacher. He primarily uses a tsuzumi drum when he holds class. He's often made to do long songs and orchestral pieces from noh and kobuki dramas, so his students aren't able to sing modern songs properly.[22] He is emotionally unstable and would complain about his students being tone-deaf. Tanjiro would often try to comfort him.[12] Obanai Iguro: Chemistry teacher. He has a severe allergy to women and can't stop his heart from palpitating and breaking out in a cold sweat merely because a woman comes near him. To protect himself from women he always wears a mask. It is said that he keeps a snake around him in order to avoid contact with women. He began working at Kimetsu Academy shortly after Mitsuri graduated.[30] He often goes to Aozora Diner, but only ever orders tea. He would frequently ask if the "girl with the braids" (Mitsuri) is coming over. When students fail tests, they are crucified to a post and shot at with bottle rockets.[19] Hotaru Haganezuka: Home Economics Teacher.[9] Rumors say that he is weak against side tickling. His favorite food is mitarashi dango.[24] Goto: English teacher. He is modest but serious and is well-liked by his students. He likes eating castella's.[31] Tamayo: Health teacher. Works in the High School's department's infirmary. Yushiro once told her that his chest hurt while he was looking at her, and she just said "Oh my, that's bad."[13] She appreciates Yushiro's help, but is worried about him skipping class to help her.[11] Others: Sakonji Urokodaki: School janitor.[14] Suma: School store clerk. She gets the change wrong a lot. She is married to Tengen.[32][13][31] Hinatsuru: School canteen staff. She is insanely good at cooking and they say she has God's tongue. [34] Family members Hisa: Inosuke's foster parent whom he affectionately refers to as grandmother, lives with him. Her specialist dish is tempura, one of Inosuke's favorites, and it's said that whenever something goes wrong, she just pretends to have bad hearing. Goes on trips with a senior citizen's club.[17][38][23] Kie Kamado: Tanjiro and Nezuko's mother. Owner of the Kamado Bakery.[16][27] Jigoro Kuwajima: Zenitsu's foster parent whom he affectionately refers to as grandfather, lives with him and Kaigaku.[16] Shinjuro Rengoku: Kimetsu Town Sword Dojo teacher, husband of Ruka and father of Kyojuro and Senjuro. He's been getting disheartened as of late, because he's been losing pupils.[6][9] Ruka Rengoku: Calligraphy teacher, wife of Shinjuro and mother of Kyojuro and Senjuro. She has a weak expression, so everyone's been worried about her recently.[6][9] Chachamaru: Yushiro's family's cat that he once brought to school on a whim. The cat has taken a liking to Tamayo-sensei and since then starts following him to school. The cat would return on its own, even opening closed windows of the house by itself.[10] Takeo Kamado: Kamado Family's second son.[23] Hanako Kamado: Kamado Family's second daughter.[23] Shigeru Kamado: Kamado's Family's third son.[16] Rokuta Kamado: Kamado's Family's fourth and youngest son.[16] Tsutako Tomioka: Older sister of Giyu. She's married. Shopkeeper of "Cute Shop", a girl's accessory shop at Sagiriyama Station.[30][27] Shizu Shinazugawa: Mother of Sanemi and Genya. According to the former, she works overtime till really late hours to support her 7 children.[39] Sumi Shinazugawa: Shinazugawa Family's first daughter.[40] Teiko Shinazugawa: Shinazugawa Family's second daughter.[41] Shuya Shinazugawa: Shinazugawa Family's third son.[41] Hiroshi Shinazugawa: Shinazugawa Family's fourth son.[41] Koto Shinazugawa: Shinazugawa Family's fifth and youngest son.[41] Kyogo Shinazugawa: The former husband of Shizu and the father of Sanemi and Genya. He died when Sanemi was young, making his wife work hard to raise her family.[39]
