The Soul Society,(essentially heaven) Hueco Mundo, (essentially hell) and the human world. the soul society is filled with spirits and Soul Reapers. Soul Reapers are spirits born usually born in the soul society that are trained to protect the human world from Hollows. They wield swords called "Zanpakuto". Zanpakuto are special swords that molded with their user and have a unique spirit bound to the user inside the sword. A Zanpakuto's strength is the ability to summon that spirit by calling its name along with a phrase that matches both the user and the zanpakuto. Shikai changes the sword and grants it a unique ability. This is known as "Shikai." Once someone forms a bond with their zanpakuto, they learn its true name and unlock "Bankai" further changing the sword and powering up its unique ability. Very few but extremely strong individuals know Bankai. Each soul Reapers is a part of the 13 court guard squads or gotei 13. They command and over see the soul Reapers and human world. Each of the captains are as follows. Squad one captain: Genryūsai Shigekuni Yamamoto Founder of the gotei 13. Is over 2000 years old. One of the strongest soul Reapers alive. Shikai phrase: "All things in the universe turn to ash" Shikai name: "Ryujin Jakka" Shikai ability, covers the sword in a flame so hot and powerful that anything it touches immediately turns to ash(excluding Yamamoto and his zanpakuto). Bankai Name: "Zanka No Tachi" Bankai ability: absorbs all the flames produced by the shikai into the sword. The moment the sword touches something, a flame ignites that is so powerful it looks more like an explosion than a sword and instantly erases whatever was touched. Hoeever it damages himself and can potentially destroy the soul society. Squad 2 leader: Suì-fēng Loyal,trained assassin, somewhat obsessed with Yoruichi Shihōin. The previous captain of squad 2 and her trainer who was exiled. Shikai phrase: "Sting All Enemies To Death" Shikai name: "Suzumebachi" Shikai ability: changes the zanpakuto into a small,dagger like object attached to her middle finger. When it strikes a person it leaves a small butterfly mark at the point of impact. If this butterfly mark is successfully hit again, the target will immediately die. Bankai name: "Jakuhō Raikōben" Bankai ability: turns her arm into a small missile silo with a rocket attached. She can then aim and fire this rocket. The rocket is the equivalent of a mini nuke and has extreme power. She however hates using her bankai believing it to be too loud and worthless for an assassin like her. Squad 3: N/A currently doesn't have one as the previous Captain Gin Ichimaru turned traitor and fled into Hueco Mundo with Aizen and Kaname Tosen. Shikai phrase: "Shoot To Kill" Shikai name: "Shinsō" Shikai ability: looks like an ordinary Wakizashi but can extend to 100 times it's length in the blink of an eye Bankai Name: Kamishini No Yari Bankai ability: Keeps the same appearance as shiki but fundamentally changes. Instead of extending, the blade can turn to dust allowing it to extend to 13km in 0.08 seconds. He down plays and lies about its true reach and speed to catch opponents off guard. Shikai phrase: Unknown Shikai name: Unknown Shikai ability: Unknown Bankai name: "Minazuki" Bankai ability: covers the battlefield in blood and allows her to control the blood to attack and defend Squad 5 captain: N/A previous captain was Sōsuke Aizen who turned traitor and fled into Hueco Mundo. Bankai: Unknown Hollows are evil spirits that come from Hueco Mundo. They are attracted to reiatsu,kill humans and eat spirits. Hollows are formed when either a spirit is eaten by a hollow or when a spirit is overcome by negative emotions and attachments. Hollows are divided into four types. Gillians, the weakest hollows. A single soul Reapers can slay a gillian. Reiryoku is a person's soul and reiatsu is the spiritual energy generated from the soul. The Soul Society, Hueco Mundo Spirits,Soul Reapers and hollows are all made of Reiatsu. Reiatsu is also required for attacking and defending.
