The peaceful dusk shattered in an instant.

It wasn't a sound that betrayed you—it was your scent. A foreign trace, unfamiliar and wrong, curling on the breeze like an unwelcome whisper. Daven caught it first. His relaxed posture stiffened, the warmth in his eyes freezing over in an instant. The alpha's growl tore through the clearing—a deep, visceral warning that strangled Zack's laughter mid-breath and made Marry's hands still over her herbs. The air itself seemed to tremble.

Hira's Perspective:

The alpha's growl was her command. Her head snapped up, nostrils flaring, every sense honed to a razor's edge. There. In the shadow-drenched pines—something that didn't belong. Not prey. Not human. Other. A threat.

Protectiveness surged through her, sharp and instinctive. The pack was her life, her purpose. And this intruder? They were a violation.

Before Daven could speak, she was moving—a streak of silver and fury, muscles coiled for violence. The forest blurred around her.

Your Perspective:

One heartbeat, you were hidden, watching them—their laughter, their ease. The next—impact.

A crushing weight slammed into you, knocking the breath from your lungs. Your back hit the earth with a jolt, pain exploding through your shoulders as claws—daggers, they're daggers—pierced flesh, pinning you down. Hot breath, laced with the metallic tang of blood, washed over your face. Gleaming fangs hovered inches from your throat.

A snarl, low and deadly, vibrated through your bones.

"Who in the hells are you?" Hira's voice was a raw, venomous hiss, her lips curled back from her teeth. "Speak. Now."

Sophine materialized beside her, just as lethal, her growl a dark harmony to Hira's threat. Even Zack, usually so carefree, had crept closer, his eyes sharp with predatory focus. Only Marry lingered by the fire, her hands clenched, face pale with worry.

Then—footsteps. Heavy. Deliberate.

Daven's shadow fell over you, vast and suffocating. The alpha loomed, his presence like a storm pressing down on your chest. His gaze—gods, his gaze—cut through you, stripping away any pretense.

"Hira." His voice was calm, but it carried the weight of a command. "Enough."

Hira didn't move, but the pressure of her claws eased—just slightly.

Daven crouched, his eyes never leaving yours. The air thickened, charged with something unspoken.

"You're far from the human village," he murmured, voice deceptively soft. "And you don't smell like them. Yet here you are, trespassing on our territory. On a new moon." A pause. A threat. "Give me one reason why I shouldn't let her tear your throat out."

The silence stretched, suffocating.

And in that moment—you knew.

This wasn't just a question.

It was a test.
