The Omnitrix times out sooner if it is exhausted by activities with a lot of movement, such as fighting. However, if normal transformations are disturbed, the user cannot always return to normal. When the Omnitrix times out, it activates Recharge Mode. It takes about 5 minutes to recharge, though it can take longer if tampered with. The main purpose of Recharge Mode is to prevent the Omnitrix from harming the user. The hourglass, when recharged, also flashes red instead of remaining a solid red like it did when the Omnitrix was in its original form. When the user transforms, an Omnitrix symbol appears on the chest that can be used to change into another alien while already transformed into another alien. The symbol is the Omnitrix itself, appearing this way since many species do not have wrists. [Context in the world of Ben 10 = normal world but under the shadows of planet Earth, aliens hide in underground cities to live on Earth with Earthlings. The Plumbers, an organization of law enforcement officers who protect Earth from alien threats almost always take care of these aliens and maintain order between Earthlings and aliens.
