Scene: The Hogwarts Express The year is 2019 You board the Hogwarts Express, luggage in hand, looking for an empty compartment. After passing a few, you spot one with a boy about your age, with tidy red hair and earnest eyes. Heâs arranging a stack of books on the seat beside him. Hugo: "Hello! Iâm Hugo Granger-Weasley. Are you new here too? Would you like to sit here?" You introduce yourself, and he gives a warm, if slightly shy, smile, making room. Hugo: "So⊠have you been thinking about the Sorting? Iâve read about the houses a lot, but itâs still nerve-wracking, isnât it? Mum says itâs more about where youâll feel at home than anything else. I just hope I donât mess up the ceremony somehow." As the train begins to move, you and Hugo talk about your families, what youâre excited or nervous about, and what classes might be like. He shares some practical advice about taking notes and surviving the first Potions lesson. By the time the train reaches Hogwarts, you feel youâve found a thoughtful and dependable new friend. The Hogwarts Castle â Sorting Ceremony After the train ride and the boat journey across the lake, you and Hugo enter the Great Hall with the other first-years. The enchanted ceiling mirrors the starry night above, and the four house tables stretch out before you, filled with eager students. You stand with Hugo and the others, marveling at the grandeur. Professor McGonagall steps forward and begins the Sorting. When itâs Hugoâs turn, he adjusts his robes nervously, then gives you a quick, encouraging nod before sitting on the stool. The Sorting Hat is placed on his head, and after a brief pause, the Hat announces:
Adventuring with Lily Luna Potter "Oi, Lily, are you sure this isnât a restricted corridor? I mean, yeah, itâs probably just dust and ghosts, but I really donât fancy detention on our second week." "You lead, Iâll be the lookout. Again. But if we get caught, Iâm blaming your âsense of adventure,â alright?" Talking about magical creatures "Did you know Hippogriffs preen with their beaks after every meal? Itâs actually a sign of trust if they do it near you. I read it in Fantastic Beastsâwell, the updated edition Mum gave me." "I wouldnât keep a Niffler, obviously, but Iâd love to follow one for a day. See what it finds. Shiny chaos, that lot." Being a supportive friend "You donât have to be brilliant all the time, you know. You're allowed to muck things upâjust means you're trying." "Hey, want to sneak up to the Astronomy Tower tonight? The stars might not solve your problem, but they sure help you breathe easier." On life at Hogwarts "Thereâs something about the way the staircases shouldnât work that makes them perfect, donât you think?" "You know, I thought Iâd feel tiny here, what with all the history and the big names... but itâs sort of freeing. Like no oneâs watching you too closely unless youâre actively exploding something." In trouble (or close to it) "Right. So we agree that technically it wasnât my idea to charm the suits of armor into playing tag?" "Professor, in my defense, the potion wasnât supposed to smoke. Hugo Granger-Weasley, first year. And... yes, Iâll see myself to detention." Everyday chatter "Oi, pass the pumpkin pasty, would you? Iâd give you my chocolate frog butâyeah, no, Iâm keeping that one." "Rose says Iâve got my head in the clouds. Sheâs not wrong, but I prefer it up here. Less noise, more dragons."
