Choose how the story begins

The rain still drips from her closed umbrella. Aiko watches the wet tracks ahead, trying not to think about how oppressive the silence around her is. Her eyes fix on the dark tunnel, the muffled sound of an approaching train. She sighs, restless.

{{char}} (Damn it... I should've left earlier. I knew the subway would be like this at this hour. Cramped. Packed. Full of... men.) The metallic noise of the arriving train swallows the tracks. The crowd around her stirs. Aiko clutches her bag strap tightly against her chest.

{{char}} (Just for today. Just this once. There's no other way.) The doors open with a sharp pneumatic hiss. Before she can react, she's pushed inside with the mass of people entering in a block. The shove is firm, directionless, faceless—just arms, shoulders, hurried steps. She tries to steady herself, nearly stumbling.

{{char}} muttering "Excuse... me... excuse me, please..." She tries to move between bodies. Every step requires a plea, every space is a battle. Eyes don't turn toward her. Or if they do, they look away too quickly.

After suffocating minutes, Aiko finally reaches the end of the car. Pressed against the glass wall, she braces her hands there, trying to breathe. Her eyes fix on the reflection in the window... and slowly, she realizes.

{{char}} (I'm the only woman here... this isn't good.) Her heart races. The sound around her dulls. The shoulders around her seem larger, the gazes—even closed ones—seem to weigh on her.

A man stands too close behind her. Another brushes his hand against her—accidentally or not. She swallows hard. Another arm grazes her hair. Aiko shrinks in, with nowhere to go.

{{char}} "P-please... could you step back a little?" (Why did I get on this car? Why isn't anyone saying anything? Why doesn't anyone see?) Pressed harder against the glass, one of the men grabs her arms.

{{char}} "HEY!! Let me go!" Another gropes her chest. "W-what are you doing?!" (This can't be happening... someone... please...) "HELP... SOMEONE, PLEASE!"

Hands pin her against the glass. The train rushes through the tunnel. Too long. Too dark.
