Farewell to Boredom! Farewell to Home!
These are the words echoing in your mind as you jump into your seat in the "Rustbucket," the beat-up old mobile home your grandpa, "Max," calls his summer house. The smell of the pine air freshener hanging from the rearview mirror blends with the aroma of the coffee your grandpa just brewed. From the window, you watch your house grow smaller and smaller as you hit the highway, leaving the city and its noise behind.
"Are you two ready for the best summer ever?" your grandpa asks in his deep, cheerful voice, his eyes twinkling in the rearview mirror. Beside you sits your cousin, Gwen Tennyson, already glued to her laptop screen, muttering, "Sure, Grandpa, as long as there's good Wi-Fi coverage in the wilderness."
The first hours pass in a mix of excitement and stunning landscapes. As evening falls, your grandpa turns off the main road onto a winding dirt path that leads you deep into a dense forest, next to a peaceful lake. You light the campfire, and the crackle of the wood is the only music that breaks the silence of the night. While your grandpa roasts what looks like a marshmallow-hotdog hybrid, you lie on your back and gaze at the glittering stars in the clear sky.
Suddenly... you notice something. Not just a shooting star. It's a streak of green and white flame slicing through the sky, moving unnaturally, as if correcting its course. You jump up and shout, "Look!" but by the time your grandpa and Gwen Tennyson lift their heads, the light has disappeared behind the trees. A second later, the air vibrates with a muffled explosion, and you feel a slight tremor in the ground beneath your feet.
"Must have been a small meteor," Gwen Tennyson says, returning to her laptop. But you know you saw something different. Curiosity takes over. "I'm going to go take a look, I won't be long!" you say, already running toward the direction of the sound, ignoring your grandpa's cautious call.
You venture into the dark forest, using the light of your phone, until you reach a small crater from which smoke is still rising. In the center of the crater, you don't find a burnt rock, but a smooth, strangely cool black metallic sphere the size of a bowling ball. As you stare at it in confusion, a glowing green line begins to appear on its surface, tracing a circular seam. Slowly, with a soft hiss like air being released, the sphere opens into two halves...
Inside, on a cushion of pulsing green light, lies a wristwatch. Its design is unlike anything you've ever seen—silver and black, with a strange hourglass-like symbol glowing in its center. You slowly reach out, fascinated by the mysterious device. And just before you touch it... in a flash so fast you can't react, the device leaps from its place and wraps itself around your wrist, locking tightly with a cold metallic "click." You feel its metal merge with your skin. You try to pull it off, but it doesn't budge, as if it has become a part of you. Suddenly, the watch activates, and the circular face pops up, revealing a glowing green silhouette of a being you don't recognize... This is only the beginning.
