Gustave's older brother took care of Annette and her mother in his stead. Her uncle enrolled her in the Royal School of Sorcery in Fhirdiad where she had a natural gift for magic. This is where she met Mercedes, and the two became lifelong friends. She graduated with top marks. Annette enrolls in Garreg Mach Monastery Officers Academy in Imperial Year 1180, and joins the Blue Lions under its house leader Dimitri. Annette is a natural scholar, often remarked for her exceptional academic marks from both her days in the Faerghus' School of Sorcery to her time in the Officers Academy. Her cheerfulness and optimism persists even during the war phase, serving as a source of morale for others exhausted from the war. Privately, she adores eating, especially sweets, and loves to compose and sing cute songs, but is usually embarrassed when others catch her in the act. Mercedes is her best friend since their days at the School of Sorcery and is highly protective of her. For all of her attentiveness to her studies, behind the scenes, Annette is prone to missteps along the way that lead to nowhere and often to failure. When it matters, Annete is one to rise to the occasion, making up for her stumbles. Annette can be clumsy, with a recurring instance of her tripping over barrels. One of her greatest interests is in cooking as she always looks forwards to opportunities to be in the kitchen. When she does however, mayhem ensues. The kitchen is often left with huge messes and some have stated that even small explosions have occurred whenever she cooks. Thankfully none are harmed, but Annette persists in improving herself in this matter regardless. Annette's relationship with her father is strained, as he effectively abandoned her and her mother following the Tragedy of Duscur out of shame of his failure to the Crown. Even though her father assumes a new name, she is instantly able to recognize him and seeks answers for his long absence. She is upset that he keeps a stubborn distance due to his personal shame. When he hands her a stack of letters that he had wrote but never sent to Annette and her mother, Annette is left furious. However, she cannot bring herself to discard the letters nor hate her father. After reading them, she finally approaches her father to seek true reconciliation and by that time, her father has moved past his stubbornness and agrees to return home, which they do so if they both survive the war in the Azure Moon route. He was quite close to his brother, and mourned his death. Rodrigue on the other hand, stated that he died in glorious service to the king, which greatly angered Felix as he believed that his father did not sincerely care for Glenn, and caused a bitter rift between the two. Two years later, he served as squire to a knight who helped quell a rebellion in western Faerghus. There he witnessed an unusual bloodlust from Dimitri who led the charge, creating a rift between himself and the prince, whom he began referring to as the "Boar Prince" after the incident. Felix enrolls in the Garreg Mach Monastery Officers Academy in Imperial Year 1180 and joins the Blue Lions. Presenting himself as a sharp-tongued lone wolf, Felix is not one to seek out company of other people, mostly only doing so out of obligation or necessity. He loathes wasteful action and barely tolerates some of his classmates quirky natures, sometimes outright vocalizing his disdain whenever they annoy him. In battle, he is a fierce warrior and takes pride in his skills, usually spending his free time training and honing them. This also makes him surprisingly competitive and eagerly seeks out strong opponents, most notably being impressed by Byleth in their first meeting and is one of few individuals he openly admires. As a result of wanting to become the best swordsman in all of Fódlan, Felix can be quite absentminded in other tasks, although he can recognize his mistakes should others point them out. This devotion results in him abandoning his title outside Azure Moon in most of his endings as he decides to travel as a wandering mercenary, taking down numerous opponents and building a fearsome reputation. According to Dimitri, Felix was starkly different in their youth as he was friendlier and a bit of a cry-baby. He admired his elder brother Glenn and like all of the people associated with Glenn, his death marked a turning point in Felix's personality, begining his surly disposition seen during the events of Three Houses and Three Hopes. He states to Byleth that part of his motivations to become strong is to surpass Glenn and at times, feels like he will be chasing his brother's ghost. The event also soured his relationship with his father Rodrigue as he spites his father for glorifying his brother's death, viewing it as a slight against Glenn, whom he believes Rodrigue did not care for based on this response to his death. With time in the Azure Moon route in Three Houses or Azure Gleam route in Three Hopes, Felix can repair his relationship with his father and accept the truth of his father's true feelings towards Glenn that he had long since disbelieved. Having accepted his brother's death and choosing to use it for proactive motivations, his views of the dead also differ greatly from those of Dimitri's. Whereas Dimitri wishes to satiate what he believes are the dying wishes of the dead, Felix believes that after mourning, the dead should be left to rest and the living should move on. Despite this cold demeanor, he does care greatly about his friends and hates the idea of them dying on the battlefield, especially if they come close to doing so in his defense. While they were once close friends, Felix's friendship with Dimitri appears to be very strained, with Felix having lost all respect for the prince upon witnessing his bloodlust during the suppression of a rebellion in the western parts of the Kingdom prior to the events of Three Houses. He frequently refers to him as a "beast" and the "boar prince", and even goes so far as to use the "it" pronoun in reference to him after the timeskip. Should Felix be recruited in Crimson Flower, this turns into complete hatred, stating that he refuses to serve the boar any longer.
