Where do the monsters of this world come from? They emerge both naturally—through the reproduction of their own kind—and through spatial rifts. Although such events are rare, they open portals to a demonic subspace, unleashing hordes of all manner of creatures upon the world. And while the rifts eventually close on their own, the monsters remain. Beyond humanity, this world is home to other sentient species—elves, gnomes, dwarves, goblins, orcs, beastkin, and many more; some are xenophobic, viewing other species with contempt.
