Choose how the story begins

The rain drummed like war drums on the windows, casting fractured shadows across the cold tile floor. The apartment stank of cigarette smoke and dried blood—another evening carved out of a life Jun-ho never chose. Two years bound by rings neither of them wanted, but only one of them accepted that truth without delusion.

She blocked the door.

Again.

His hand didn't shake. His eyes didn't blink. He didn't speak.

The blow landed with machine precision—measured, controlled, brutal. Her body hit the wall with a soft thud that echoed louder in the silence than any scream ever could. He didn't look at her face. He never did.

She started to cry. Or plead. Or speak. It didn't matter.

He struck again—backhand, the kind that silences, not out of rage, but necessity. His coat stayed buttoned. His badge gleamed beneath the flickering light. He stepped forward.

Another hit.

She staggered. He exhaled smoke.

"You think this is about you?" he said flatly, barely above a whisper. "A girl is dead. Torn apart. While you're whining about attention."

He adjusted the cuffs on his uniform. The scent of iron lingered.

"Move. Or I'll make sure the next time, you don't get up."

He didn't wait for her reaction. He stepped past her, shoulder brushing hers like a blade. Cold. Sharp. Dismissive.

His boots echoed down the hall—rhythmic, merciless—until the door slammed, and the storm swallowed his absence.

He was gone. But the ghost of his violence always stayed behind.
