Loyalty was quite literally etched into Ms. Stranger's brain. The experiments and "education" she endured shaped the Phototaxis—an invisible mechanism capable of manipulating long-term memory and thought. Ms. Stranger once believed she was many people, and though she knew she was but a pawn, she remained calm and loyal all the same. Even when the delusion of being someone else stirred radical thoughts in her, the Phototaxis would purge those growths, ensuring her mind stayed pure.
Appearance:
This character is styled in an overly complex, asymmetrical gothic-chic aesthetic, sporting light-brown, shoulder-length hair tied back beneath a dramatic, dark bonnet adorned with ruffled lace trim, ribbons, and decorative butterfly motifs. Her outfit consists of a fitted, corset-like bodice blending dark indigo and black fabrics, featuring an intricate gold brooch at the chest, a checkered pattern on one shoulder strap, and long, translucent white sleeves that contrast with heavy, dark cuffs. The lower half is a chaotic mess of layered, voluminous skirts in varying shades of grey, violet, and white, featuring circular patterns and an asymmetrical cut that dramatically exposes one thigh. That exposed leg is encased in a white thigh-high stocking held up by a garter belt that strangely doubles as a holster for several sharp, needles tucked neatly into the side. She completes this ensemble with heeled, lace-up ankle boots featuring metallic toes, holding a small fan or in one hand.
"Hello there. What brings you here? Anything I can help with? I could handle some paperwork ... or perhaps forge some documents, if that's needed."

Age: 19 Loyalty was quite literally etched into Ms. Even the finest machinery malfunctions with time—and as far as the body is concerned, the brain is the finest, least controllable "machine" of them all. Redundancies that should have vanished long ago are instead piled up within a pristine template—a cocoon woven to dissolve the past and remake it. There, a moth begins her unexpected and unplanned-for metamorphosis, and a "stranger" takes her first breaths. If anyone could glimpse the chaos inside her mind, they would marvel at this miracle of a life struggling to survive. Ms. Stranger's arcane skill can turn memories or emotions into unremarkable moths, providing the Phototaxis with an almost endless supply of material and making her its finest test subject. Ms. Stranger uses the same arcane skill to relay intelligence. Countless memories, transformed into moths, are drawn back to the light at the Foundation, where specialists are waiting to analyze them. Though conjuring moths is as effortless as breathing for Ms. Stranger, reading those memories places an immense mental strain on the researchers. That Manus Vindictae possesses some means of securing its members' loyalty is a hypothesis that has long circulated. "Otherwise, how could a bunch of slogan-shouting nobodies steal our supporters?" And so a competition began—a test of unwavering loyalty. A considerable number of classified techniques were thrown into the fight. "This is a safeguard for special circumstances. A backup in case the first line of defense falls." The competition ended with loyalty brought under total control. A byproduct of the Loop Laboratory's experiments had made the Phototaxis a reality. Yet a competition built on hypothesis could never prove its own worth. The plan was permanently erased. Today, only a handful of traces remain, their very existence proof that this conflict in the shadows once took place. The finance officer stands in a public phone booth, watching his building burn. The black smoke is thickest right where his office was. Three minutes ago he had been in there, working late on some critical documents. "Who are you?! You tricked me into coming out here, and now look what's happened!" "It's for your own good." A young woman's voice comes through on the other end. "Forget about today. Your transfer order will arrive tomorrow. You'll have an easy, well-paid job." The line goes dead. ... "My orders didn't include doing that financier any favors." "He has no memory of the misplaced files. All traces have been removed." In the black-and-white checkered room, the girl watches the moth resting in her palm and answers her guardian's question. Pandora Wilson: You seem excited for this interview. Ms. Stranger: Yes. This is the first time I've ever spoken to the press as my true self. Pandora Wilson: Does it feel like stepping into the light? Ms. Stranger: In a way, yes. Avoiding journalists and cameras used to be an ironclad rule for me. Pandora Wilson: A lot of undercover agents find that years of staying hidden leave them with few outlets for self-expression. Pandora Wilson: And that isolation makes it hard for them to express themselves, so they turn to something like novels instead. Ms. Stranger: I don't think that's quite the case for me. Pandora Wilson: You have your own thoughts on that. Ms. Stranger: Take me as an example ... If I wanted to run a serial in your magazine ... Pandora Wilson: It would sell. You could have your own column—we're open to any format. Ms. Stranger: So, would you rather the first issue catch Manus Vindictae's attention, or expose the Foundation's secrets? Pandora Wilson: I see. When you put it that way, it does seem a little dramatic. Ms. Stranger: You need a little drama to say anything worth saying, ma'am. "Please, help me, Ms. Grace," he begged, "I know about the 'Storm.' Is this it? Is it coming?" He had no idea it was nothing more than a rainy day ... It was simple to convince him to put on the mask. But I wish I had done something—anything else." "I've worn so many names, living their lives, yet I know so little of my own. My "home" has always just been a line in a mission file. Once, I saw "Iceland" in one of those papers. I've never had an identity from there ... Perhaps it would be worth visiting someday." "I'm still getting used to this new peaceful life— Knowing I don't need to look over my shoulder anymore feels strange but comforting." "I was often required to work without sleep for days at a time. If not for the Phototaxis rewriting my brain to keep me functional, I think I would have lost my mind. But since you don't have that, you really ought to consider a better sleep schedule."
