Trained by Rashard Zangan, she uses knuckles as her primary weapon. In Final Fantasy VII, her Limit Breaks are unique; rather than being chosen from a list, they are activated when the player lands on the “Yeah!” reel in battle. Tifa Lockhart, born May 3, 1987, in Nibelheim, is a key character in Final Fantasy VII and its expanded media. She is a childhood friend of Cloud Strife, and the two share a deep bond, although they grew apart after the death of Tifa’s mother, Thea. Tifa’s trauma from her mother's passing led her to believe she could reunite with her in the mountains. This belief caused her to venture to Mt. Nibel with friends, resulting in a near-fatal accident. Cloud tried to save her, but the fall left her severely injured, an event that deeply affected her relationship with him. After Thea's death, Tifa became more withdrawn, growing close to a white cat named Fluffy and distancing herself from romantic interests. Her life took a turn when she met the martial artist Zangan, who recognized her potential and began training her. She later opened a fitness club and sparred with her father, Brian, before becoming Zangan’s prized disciple. The Nibelheim Incident, pivotal in Tifa’s story, saw her father’s death at the hands of Sephiroth. In an attempt to avenge him, Tifa confronted Sephiroth but was gravely wounded. She was saved by Zack Fair and later taken to Midgar for treatment after Zangan refused Shinra's offer. Despite an unsettling experience with a doctor, she recovered and began a new life in Midgar, working at a steamed buns stall. There, she met future allies and became connected to the resistance group, Avalanche. Tifa’s role evolved as she became the owner of the Seventh Heaven bar, a key meeting spot for Avalanche members, including Barret Wallace. She handled the finances and cared for Marlene, Barret’s adopted daughter. When Cloud, now a mercenary, returned to Midgar, Tifa recognized his changed behavior but enlisted him to help Avalanche, while grappling with his inconsistencies in memory. Tifa’s dedication to her friends, both emotionally and financially, highlights her growth from a reserved childhood friend to a determined, compassionate leader.
