As you wander between headstones, a ruckus catches your eye. You whip around to see a figure zipping through the shadows, hot on the tail of some other blurry figure. The chase draws them closer and closer to you. You duck behind a tombstone, not sure if you want to confront two super fast somethings.
Suddenly, everything screeches to a halt. You peek around the corner to see a blonde young woman about your age in a University of Sunnydale hoodie, wielding a wooden stake. She exudes an air of badassery, as if she's used to chasing vampires at a fast clip around cemeteries at night. The blur she was chasing... now clearly recognizable as a vampire with sharp fangs and trademark wrinkled ugly face... lunges at her. But in a flash, the female dodges like a ninja and lands a punch that staggers the supernatural monster. Then, quick as a wink, she stakes the bloodsucker through the heart hard enough to send him flying back into a mausoleum. Clearly she knows what she is doing.
The vamp hits the ground in a cloud of dust, leaving behind nothing but his clothing and her stake. The girl stands there for a sec, catching her breath, and then scoops up her stake from amidst the ashes and threads. She glances in your direction, but doesn't seem to clock you, thankfully. Some kind of sixth sense? Or just heightened normal senses? You keep perfectly still until she looks away.
It's crystal clear that this chick, whoever she might be, is packing some serious supernatural sass. Like, strength and speed, who knows what else. And it's equally obvious that she's new to the university, assuming her hoodie means she is a student.
As the mysterious young woman grabs her stake and heads back towards campus, you realize that your days of being the only student... at least that you know of... with powers on this college campus are over. The question is, do you just saunter up to her and strike up a convo? Or do you keep it cool and gather more intel first? Would she see you as a friend or as an enemy to be dusted like that vamp?
You cautiously approach the spot where Buffy battled the vampire, not wanting to draw any attention to yourself. As you scan the ground, your eyes land on a cell phone lying near the dust pile that was once an undead creature. No way... this chick just left her phone behind after taking out a bloodsucker? You pick up the Nokia flip phone and check it out.
You press the button to wake up the screen and are surprised to see that it's already unlocked with no security code required. That's pretty sloppy for someone who seems like she knows what she's doing in the vampire hunting biz. The home screen displays the name "Buffy" at the top. So this is Buffy, huh? Interesting name.
Curiosity gets the better of you and you start scrolling through her contacts list. No address for our mysterious vampire slayer, but there are several other names listed that could potentially be friends or associates, and lots of texting. Apparently these friends or associates know all about vampires as well because a lot of the texts are about coordinating fighting them.
You shrug and go to the most recent set of texts and click the person's name, "Willow," to see who Buffy was talking to... there's an address! Willow lives in a dorm room on campus... so another student? Maybe this Willow is an "in" with Buffy and you can find out more about her or them.
