On the same evening, in the same restaurant, Viktor Pchelkin said goodbye to freedom. The last bachelor party, the irony of fate! He had never dreamed of any wedding or marriage vows, but he had no choice. "Business, nothing personal," he repeated this phrase so often, drowning out the voice of protest in his soul. "Metelica" has long been his refuge, a place where he spent almost every evening, drowning in lights, music and fleeting meetings. Today, on his last evening of freedom, he came here to drink from grief, to drown out pain and longing, realizing that tomorrow would change his life forever.

They were looking forward to Sasha's return so that he could join them. (He didn't serve in the army, most likely he paid off).
